The last trophies awarded

The European Universities Championships 2025 in combat sports have come to an end. Three days of fierce competition flew by at lightning speed. Gazi University won the overall university classification, winning 5 medals, including 4 gold.
On Monday, the sports facilities were already empty. Most student athletes had already finished their adventure with the championships. On Monday, the last finals were held at the Arche Hotel. In kickboxing, the best athletes were selected in 15 classifications: in low kick and F1 formulas. In the 67 kg (FC) final, Anton Kuhala (Technical University of Kosice) defeated Robert Rezo (University of Zagreb). It was a successful rematch for the previous tournament.
"This is my next international academic event. Two years ago, I competed in Zagreb, a year ago in Hungary, and now I am in Warsaw. The event is organised at a high level. There is a live broadcast and you can analyse everything later in slow motion. As for the fight, I am happy because a year ago I lost to this competitor during a tournament in Greece. Now it's 1:1. As for combat sports, they are worth watching because they teach discipline. If you want to fight your opponent, you first have to fight yourself. That means getting up in the morning to run and train several times a week. Without character and discipline, nothing can be achieved. All this translates into everyday life, said Antoni Kuhala.
The second medal at this event was won by Czech Stepan Knyshov, who won the pointfighting final in the 84 kg category on Sunday, and this time, after his rival was disqualified, he received gold in the low kick formula. In the K1 formula in the 56 kg category, Martyna Gasinska (Jozef Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw) defeated Ines Olivieiro (University of Minho). The Jozef Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw was the best university in the overall kickboxing classification, winning a total of 6 medals, including 3 gold medals.
At the OSIR Włochy hall, 15 university teams competed for medals in the team competition for places on the podium. In the bronze medal match, the University of Grenoble Alpe (FRA) defeated Balikesir University (TUR). In the second bronze medal match, NUSA Netherlands (NUSA) defeated Georgian Uni (GEO).
In the fight for gold, the golden point decided the winner. The University of Leipzig defeated the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. Nele Noack delivered the decisive blow. As a consolation, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest won the cup for the most medals in judo, with 7 medals, including 3 gold.
‘These were my first European Universities Championships and it was great fun, lots of smiles, but also a high level of sport. I am very happy that I was able to decide the victory for my university,’ said Nele Noack.
Olympic taekwondo, as always, provided plenty of excitement. Once again, students from Turkey led the way. In the fight for the gold medal, Julia Szpak (Jozef Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw) lost to Huru Gogebakan (Gazi University). In the weight category, Esra Akbulak (Istanbul Kent University) defeated Emna Hamadache (Paris Descartes University).
The competition was dominated by universities from Turkey. Gazi University won the medal table with 5 medals, including 4 gold. Istanbul Aydin University came second (4-0-2), and Istanbul Kent University came third (3-3-4).
